Valeo is replacing its plastic packaging for the FIRST™ windscreen wipers range with packaging made out of cardboard. This change is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to achieve carbon neutrality in its production process.
Eco-friendly cardboard packaging for FIRST™ windscreen wipers
FIRST™ is a range of wipers designed to ensure that aftermarket customers get the best value for their money. What differentiates Valeo FIRST™ from other windscreen wipers is its innovative use of 3D airflow control, which increases the pressure on the windscreen, as well as the unique shape of the spoiler PYRAMID, which ensures meticulous cleaning of the windshield. A special mix of machined rubber also makes the wiper blades extremely durable.
This new eco-packaging, made from easily recyclable cardboard, will make the FIRST™ windscreen wipers line stand out from the rest. The cardboard used for packaging is made with virgin wood fibers from sustainably managed forests and provides both hardness and durability. The cardboard is adapted to ensure a high level of product protection during shipping. The print on the FIRST™ windscreen wiper packaging is also environmentally friendly, as the soy-based ink used is solvent free.
All of this is part of Valeo's environmental strategy, which is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and plans to reach 45% of its objective by 2030. This objective incorporates the company's entire value chain, including emissions from its suppliers, its operating activities, and the end use of its products.
New packaging, the same access to information
The cardboard packaging of Valeo FIRST™ windscreen wipers has the same color palette and informative content as the previous packaging. On the packaging, one can find a table with the application, brand, and product line logos as well as a QR code, which after scanning, allows quick access to the full list of windscreen wiper applications. Each package has a hanger and three transparent tapes to ensure security. Thus, this new eco-packaging is as functional and practical as its former plastic version.
FIRST™ windscreen wipers new packaging has gradually been introduced to the market since July 2022.
